China Clay Applications

Kaolin (china clay) is a hydrated aluminium silicate (Al2O3.2SiO2.2H2O) crystalline mineral (kaolinite), formed by the decomposition of minerals such as Granite & Feldspar. The name kaolin derives from the Chinese and means high ridge.  High ridge is a reference to the hill in south-eastern China where the clay was originally discovered and used.  In the 7th and 8th centuries, the Chinese were the first to use kaolin to make porcelain.

Vision Minetech has been processing and supplying different grades of China clay (Kaolin) products from Kachchh (Gujarat-India) region. We have many ranges of our products which are suitable for specific industries like……….

Ceramics, Refractory & Insulation

Ceramics, Refractory & Insulation

Our water washed china clay (Kaolin) is used in ceramic products, insulators, and refractory. In ceramic product, kaolin aids accurate control of molding properties, and adds dry and fired strength, dimensional stability, and a smooth surface finish to the ware. The excellent dielectric properties and chemical inertness of kaolin make it well suited for porcelain electrical insulators. In refractory applications, the dimensional stability, high fusion point, and low water content, along with high green strength, make water washed china clay (Kaolin) an important constituent.

Sanitary ware

Sanitary ware

Our water washed chinaclay (Kaolin) gives white firing & excellent refractory properties to sanitary ware. Also due to soft & nonabrasive structure water washed chinaclay (Kaolin) gives smooth surface to sanitary ware.

Rubber

Rubber

Water washed Kaolin is used as a filler in many rubber goods. It adds strength, abrasion resistance, and rigidity to both natural and synthetic rubber products. In general, most rubber products extrude more easily after kaolin filler is added. The major reason that kaolin is used in rubber compounds is its whiteness and low cost. Although kaolin costs less than most other rubber pigments, it has excellent functional properties.

Pesticides

Pesticides

Water washed Kaolin is used as a carrier and diluent in fertilizers, pesticides and related products. Due to its platy structure, kaolin is very suitable as a carrier because it aids the retention of the formulation on the plant.

Paper

Paper

Water washed Kaolin has been used in paper making industries for many years, both as a coating pigment and as a filler to replace fiber. Kaolin is especially suited for paper applications because it possesses desirable optical properties, is generally chemically inert and is also relatively inexpensive when compared to other minerals.

Paint

Paint

Water washed Chinaclay(Kaolin) is used in paint because it is chemically inert and insoluble in the paint system, has a high covering power, gives the paint desirable flow properties, and is low in cost. Kaolin reduces the amount of expensive pigments, such as titanium dioxide. Kaolin assists with desired rheological properties that help maintain proper dispersion.

Fiber Glass

Fiber Glass

Water washed Chinaclay (Kaolin) is used as an inexpensive source of alumina in the manufacture of fiberglass. Much less expensive than aluminum oxide, kaolin also improves durability and strength.

Cement

Cement

Raw chinaclay (Kaolin) is used in cement industries. This raw kaolin is reach in alumina. Also having low Iron, Titanium & chromium & that’s why very much suitable for cement application.

Printing Ink

Printing Ink

Kaolin improves Ink performance by increasing opacity and printability. The major inorganic pigment used in Ink is kaolin and the formulations are similar to those of paper coating and paint. Kaolin is used in ink to improve ink holdout and to extend both coloured and white pigments. The platelet shape of kaolinite reduces film permeability, which aids in the holdout of the vehicle (binder) on the surface. Fine particle size delaminated kaolin do this most effectively. Kaolin extends the colorant, sharpens dot formation by imparting thixotropic and improves holdout. Kaolin is used in low viscosity inks for flexographic printing. Some kaolin is used to extend colorants and to provide thixotropic in offset printing. Silk screen printing uses relatively thick films that can tolerate the larger particles of calcined kaolin, which provides better light to improve opacity and whiteness. Surface modification of kaolin to make it hydrophobic increases its usefulness in oil-based inks.

Detergent & Soap

Detergent & Soap

Kaolin has excellent absorbent quality and controls rheology Kaolin is mainly used as a filler in soap production. It also gives the structure and acts as a riser, but the most important function of kaolin is to reduce cost of production. Kaolin is used both in toilet and laundry soaps. Kaolin is widely used in the cosmetic industry in mud masks for its absorbent qualities and its ability to control rheology. Kaolin clay has been used to help purify, nourish, soothe and heal different skin types. Kaolin is an ideal additive because it helps to control the thickness of the mud solution. Kaolin clay is mild, making it efficient in improving circulation of blood to your skin, as well as elimination of wastes and toxins.
